Baba G's founders close first bricks and mortar site in Camden

Alec Owen and Liz Selway have closed the first bricks and mortar iteration of Indian fast-food concept Baba G's in Camden's North Market.

 

The co-founder couple, who appeared on BBC Two's My Million Pound Menu, announced the closure across the concept’s social media channels.

 

“You’ll notice we’re no longer trading in the Camden restaurant! Thanks to everyone who supported our adventure of a bricks + mortar site, we had a blast dipping our toe into our first restaurant!”

 

The concept had started as a street food pop up on Camden Market almost a decade ago and continues to trade from its West Yard in that form, as well as at Mercato Metropolitano in Mayfair, Vinegar Yard in London Bridge and Pop Brixton.

 

Baba G's gained a following with offerings including nacho-style poppadom dish pacho's, Bhangra burgers, as well as naanwiches.

 

In 2018 Owen and Selway took part in BBC Two’s My Million Pound Menu, securing Atul Kochhar of Kanishka and Jamie Barber of Hache as mentors.

 

In a later social media post the pair hinted that they would be expanding again in the near future. They added: "Keep your eyes peeled for where the next project will be..."
