Avocado restaurant to open in Glasgow

Scotland's first avocado restaurant is to open in Glasgow.

Founded by Jamie Crawford, Avo will be located in Finnieston which is home to the SSE Hydro arena, the Riverside Museum and maritime attraction, the Tall Ship.

Crawford also owns American-inspired all-day breakfast and burger restaurant Roaster's Deli on Vincent St in Glasgow.

An opening date is yet to be announced.

Avo is expected to tap into the growing popularity of avocados in recent years, which has resulted in the price doubling in the 12 months to May 2017.

While London has seen the launch of the Avo-Brunch Pop-Up in Shoreditch and the Avocado Cafe in Shepherd's Market, Brooklyn in New York is home to Avocaderia, which goes through 650 lbs of avocados every week. Dishes include guacamole and pita chips; Mediterranean toast and the Avoburger made with smoked salmon and an avocado bun.
