Appeal launched following ‘wilful’ fire at Scottish hotel

The investigation remains ongoing after police and emergency services were called to the scene on Hill Street in Elgin.

Police have launched an appeal following a “wilful” fire at a hotel in Elgin, Moray.

 

Emergency services and police were called to the scene at the Ladyhill House hotel on Hill Street at around 2am today (21 June).

 

The fire was extinguished and there were no reports of further injuries.

 

Officer are currently treating the fire as “wilful” and enquiries remain ongoing to establish the cause of the incident.

 

Detective sergeant Keith Rennie said: “I’m keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around the time and saw anything which may assist our investigation.

 

“I’d also ask drivers with dashcams to review footage from the area and bring anything of significance you’ve captured to our attention.”

 

Anyone with information is urged to get in touch with Police Scotland on 101, quoting reference 0281 of 21 June.
