Anna Hansen signs lease on second Modern Pantry site

Anna Hansen, chef proprietor of the Modern Pantry in London's Clerkenwell, has signed a lease on a second site.

The second Modern Pantry restaurant is expected to open in the City of London next spring, following a revamp of the 3,700 sq ft space.

Hansen told Caterer and Hotelkeeper that the opportunity to view the site "came out of the blue" but that she knew right away it would be suitable.

"I walked in there and immediately knew that it would be the next Modern Pantry," she said. "It was actually a bit like this place [the Modern Pantry in Clerkenwell].

"When I found this place there were two derelict buildings that hadn't been occupied in something like 10 years, but I just discovered it and it was like one of those moments when a ray shines down from above. I just knew."
