Andy Murray's Cromlix hotel submits plans for new restaurant and rooms

The hotel has seen a rise in occupancy since its refurbishment last year.

The Cromlix hotel owned by Sir Andy and Kim Murray has submitted plans to build a new restaurant and extra bedrooms.

If approved, the Victorian mansion in Dunblane will be extended to include a new 80-cover dining space overlooking its back lawn.

It will replace the existing Glasshouse restaurant space, which will move to be used mainly for afternoon teas and private events.

The plans will also see the creation of three new ground floor bedrooms in the main building, with the current kitchen space converted into an accessible suite and two cottage rooms.

An additional bedroom is also being added to the first floor, meaning the main house will be extended from 15 bedrooms to 19.

The Murrays bought the hotel in tennis star Andy’s hometown for almost £2m in 2013 and took on a more hands-on role running the business last year.

Kim oversaw a complete refurbishment of Cromlix in 2023 and planning permission has been granted for nine woodland cabins and the creation of a wellness cottage in its grounds.

Barry Makin, general manager at Cromlix, said: “We’ve had a great 18 months since the refurbishment, with record occupancy, more private events and weddings than ever before, and the restaurant and bar really busy throughout the week and at weekends.

“Cromlix has become a really thriving business for the local area, and this restaurant and the new bedrooms will ensure we continue to be able to meet demand and give people the chance to experience our wonderful hotel and restaurant for themselves.”
