The East London Pub Company’s four venues have all been sold to new owners since the business fell into administration in November 2023.

The East London Pub Company was founded by Patrick Frawley with the launch of its first pub, the Ten Bells in Spitalfields (pictured), in 2014.

It then expanded to four pubs, adding the Lock Tavern in Chalk Farm, the Gun in Spitalfields, and most recently the Saxon in Clapham.

Administrators from financial specialists Kroll were appointed to the business in November 2023 and all pubs were placed on the market through Savills.

The pubs continued to trade through the marketing period and buyers were found for all locations in the first half of 2024.

The sale of the Ten Bells to brewery London Beer Factory for £900,000 was completed in June.

The Lock tavern was sold to McMullen & Sons Ltd in April, becoming the ninth managed London pub in its portfolio, which also includes Angel in Waltham Abbey, the Builder’s Arms in Potters Bar, the Cambridge Tap in Cambridge and the Cricketers in Enfield.

The Saxon was sold to Polygon Public House ltd, behind the Rose and Crown in Clapham, in partnership with Thorton Meat Company for £2m in May.

The Gun was the last of the venues to change hands and was purchased by Urban Pubs & Bars.

Urban Pubs & Bars was founded by Nick Pring and Malcolm Heap in 2014 and now has a portfolio of 44 pubs, bars and restaurants across London.

Its latest acquisition, the Herne in East Dulwich, was announced yesterday (14 August).
