Yorkshire brewery Tetley's is under threat of being closed down, with 170 jobs having been put at risk.
Brewer Carlsberg has announced plans to shut the Leeds-based brewery due to financial pressures.
The company said it can no longer financially justify running two major breweries in the UK but hopes to move some of the 170 staff expected to be made redundant to its Northampton brewery.
Leeds North West MP Greg Mulholland, who is the chairman of the All Party Save the Pub Group, is supporting the Campaign for Real Ale's bid to save Tetley's Brewery.
"Tetley's is a Leeds beer," Mulholland said.
"It has been brewed in Leeds for over 186 years, by Leeds workers using Leeds water. It is unthinkable that it could be brewed anywhere else."
