The private equity owner of Village Hotels has reportedly begun an £800m auction to sell-off the group.
The Times reports advisers to KSL Capital partners, which bought the mid-market chain for £485m in 2014, have shared “teaser” documents with interested parties.
Colorado-based KSL acquired the business when it traded under the Village Urban Resort brand as part of a break-up of the De Vere group.
The chain has since grown from 25 to 33 hotels across the UK, with more than 4,000 rooms.
Village Hotels was founded in 1995 and its properties feature pub-style restaurants, gyms, and co-working spaces.
Last year, the group entered a three-year partnership with the Professional Darts Corporation to feature its branding at events and run competitions for event tickets and other prizes.
KSL is an experienced hospitality investor and owned the Hotel du Vin group and Malmaison before it sold the pair to Frasers Hospitality for £363m in 2015.
The private equity firm acquired the parent company of the Pig Hotels in partnership with the group’s co-founder Robin Hutson in 2022.
