Valor Hospitality Partners is to operate Dunluce Lodge on the Royal Portrush Golf Club when it opens in the autumn ahead of the Open Championship taking place at the property in 2025.
The 35-bedroom luxury hotel will sit on the edge of Royal Portrush’s fourth fairway on Northern Ireland’s County Antrim coast. The hotel will be led by general manager Stephen Meldrum.
The £16.5m property has been developed by the US-based Links Collection, which also owns Seaton House in St Andrews. Formerly the Scores hotel, Seaton House will open later this year with chef Roy Brett overseeing the restaurant. It will be the chef’s first venture since he opened Ondine in Edinburgh in 2019.
Meldrum said: “When Dunluce Lodge opens later this year it will set a new standard as the definitive five-star location on the Causeway Coast. Overlooking the fourth fairway at Royal Portrush Golf Club and facing the wild Atlantic Ocean, our location speaks for itself.
He added: “From employing ‘Hotelitarians’ from the local community, sourcing local materials and serving the finest seasonal produce from Northern Ireland’s abundant land and sea larder, Dunluce Lodge will set a new standard on the Causeway Coast and offer truly impeccable, genuine Irish hospitality.”
Valor Hospitality Partners global co-founder and chief executive Euan McGlashan said: “It is a thrill to be working on this incredible project in such an area of outstanding natural beauty and on the edge of such an iconic golf course.
“Our wonderful owners have been intimately involved in all the design details, ensuring that their love of hospitality, golf, and Northern Ireland is projected into Dunluce Lodge which will stand proudly as the region’s only five-star hotel.”
