Tributes pour in after restaurateur Peter Jukes found dead

Tributes have poured in for celebrated Scottish restaurateur Peter Jukes, who was found dead at the weekend.

Jukes was chef proprietor at the Cellar in Anstruther, Fife, for three decades, although he put the restaurant up for sale in 2011 after announcing plans to retire.

He was reported missing at 4pm on Friday 28 December, according to the Scotsman newspaper. The 63-year-old's body was discovered on the morning of Saturday 29 December on a small stretch of coastline in Cellardyke, Fife.

Jukes ran the restaurant since 1982. In 2008 it was named UK seafood restaurant of the year by the Good Food Guide.

Craig Millar, chef/owner of 16 West End in St Monans in Fife took to Twitter to say: "Today the hospitality industry has lost a true legend."

Food writer Christopher Trotter said: "Tragic news about the sad death of Peter Jukes Chef proprietor of the Cellar restaurant In Anstruther. One of Scotland's leading chefs."

Wine expert and Scotsman columnist Rose Murray Brown said: "V sad news of Peter Jukes of The Cellar Anstruther: memories of great meals and a Bollinger extravaganza notlong ago."

Local food supplier Food From Fife said: "We mourn the loss of Peter Jules of the Cellar. Our thoughts are with his family & friends."
