It comes almost three years after Adam Symonds and Rob Tecwyn launched the Baring in Islington
The team behind the Baring in London’s Islington is set to open a new gastropub in London’s Camberwell this spring.
The Kerfield Arms dates back to 1863 but was most recently known as the Crooked Well pub, which closed in December 2024 after 14 years of trading.
Adam Symonds and chef Rob Tecwyn will be relaunching the space as the Kerfield Arms, three years after the pair opened the Baring, which was praised by The Guardian’s Grace Dent for setting the “benchmark of where pub dining is heading” in August 2022.
A post on the Baring’s and the Kerfield Arm’s Instagram account stated: "Very excited to announce we’ll soon be opening the doors to our second pub, the Kerfield Arms, in Camberwell."
The post went on to say the site is under refurbishment but is set to open in April.
Symonds and Tecwyn are also joined by head chef Jay Stayler, who has been with the Baring since the beginning.
Dishes at the Kerfield Arms will include cuttlefish and lardo shish, pul biber chilli; fried pig’s head, smoked eel and warm tartare sauce; Yorkshire hogget, violet artichokes, bagna cauda and pine nuts; and gariguette strawberry and chamomile custard doughnut.
A mid-week lunch option, with mains priced at £12 or £15 with a pint or glass of wine, will also be available.
The bar will feature eight keg beers from independent breweries, organic and biodynamic wines from small producers and old world wines from France and Italy.
The Kerfield Arms is situated on a residential street off Camberwell Church Street and offers a large bar area, outdoor seating and a first-floor private dining room that can seat up to 25 guests.
