Gryphon Leisure has sold Stradey Park Hotel & Spa in Llanelli, Camarthenshire, to Sterling Woodrow Investments off an asking price of £3.2m.
Former owners Angela Saunders and brother Barry decided to sell the business after 20 years to semi-retire and pursue other interests, having “heavily invested” in the property since buying it in 2000.
The stone-built manor house, which dates to 1912, has a dining room and function rooms and was originally owned by local industrialist Alexander Raby. In 1974, the hotel was extended and now has 77 bedrooms, conference and meetings rooms, and spa facilities.
Corrina Jones, senior business agent at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, said: “Christie & Co are delighted to have had the opportunity to work with the owners of Stradey Park Hotel & Spa and to secure a buyer to take over the helm of this iconic business. Our clients, the directors of Gryphon Leisure and operational director Angela Saunders have worked tirelessly to make the hotel a success since they bought the business over 20 years ago.”
