Robert Aikens joins Thomas Franks as consultant chef

Contract caterer Thomas Franks has appointed Robert Aikens, twin brother of Tom Aikens, as chef consultant.

Robert worked with the Roux brothers for four years at Le Gavroche before moving to the United States to work at the Point in the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Placid Lodge in New York state.

He was also head chef of Citibank for eight years, where he cooked for corporate events and bank-sponsored tournaments.

At Thomas Franks, Robert will be responsible for supporting, mentoring and collaborating with the foodservice provider's chef teams.

Robert said: "This is a very exciting opportunity for me to learn about the business and add value and benefit to the company, while also sharing my culinary knowledge and experience to help take their cuisine to the next level."

Gavin Young, culinary director of Thomas Franks, added: "We are thrilled to have him join our team and bring his wealth of knowledge and creativity to our catering services and chefs. We believe his contributions will help us continue to innovate and elevate our catering offer."

Tom of Michelin-starred Muse by Tom Aikens in London's Belgravia also works with the London side of Thomas Franks.
