Margot's Bistro in Padstow, Cornwall, has announced that it is to close after 19 years.
In an announcement on Twitter, under the heading "Nothing is forever", a statement from the restaurant read: "We are sad to announce that we will be closing at the end of March 2015.
"After 19 years at Margot's, the last 16 as owners, we feel it is time to explore other ideas. We have had the time of our lives in Padstow, been proud to serve both the locals and visitors, and become part of the finest communities in Cornwall . Our thanks to the people of Padstow for making us so welcome, the staff over the years for their amazing efforts, the guests who came time and time again and our suppliers who have always given us their best."
Explaining the move to The Caterer, chef Adrian Oliver (pictured) said: "The bare bones of it is that I fancy a new challenge. I didn't want to be one of those that closes overnight, I owe people more than that, hence announcing the news now.
"The bistro is all-consuming as a one man band and I will have time to build something new. I feel a responsibility as owner of Margot's, it's a bit of an institution to keep going, but family time
is important. I am open to ideas and have no plans to leave Cornwall."
Oliver called for anyone interested in the site to contact him.
