The property has the potential to be redeveloped with a new hotel, spa or leisure facilities
A hotel and golf course that closed during the pandemic has been put on the market for £3.75m.
Patshull Park Hotel Golf and Country Club on the Shropshire-Staffordshire border closed in March 2020 when the UK entered the first coronavirus lockdown.
Staff at the 49-room hotel were made redundant the following July and the business went into liquidation.
It was taken over by family business Mercer Farming in September 2020, but has now been put up for sale.
There has been a manor house on the site since before the Norman Conquest and the building acted as a rehabilitation centre for wounded servicemen during the war.
Patshull Park includes 214 acres of land, including the former hotel and function venue, a fishing lodge and a Grade II-listed Doric temple built in 1754.
Property agent Fisher German said there was potential to redevelop the land into a new hotel, conference and function venue, golf club or spa, subject to planning consent.
Stuart Flint, partner at Fisher German, said: “Patshull Park is an outstanding property with a fascinating history and an abundance of potential uses and redevelopment opportunities. Set amidst unspoiled archetypal English countryside, the property is located within easy reach of local amenities and is less than seven miles from the nearest junction of the M54, making it the perfect setting for any redevelopment.”
