Meat Liquor Bristol set to close

Burger brand Meat Liquor has announced it will be closing its Bristol site at the end of the week.

Just two years after opening, the group announced on the restaurant's Facebook page that the site on 77 Stokes Croft will close for business on Sunday 22 October, citing a "series of incidents" leading to the decision to "put the safety of our staff first".

It did not elaborate on the incidents mentioned, but confirmed it would be looking for another site in the city.

The post read: "Our decision has not been an easy one, but after a series of incidents, both in the local area and in the restaurant itself, we have decided to put the safety of our staff first, something which is of paramount importance to us. We still adore Bristol, and will be actively looking for another site.

"We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here, and would like to thank all of our amazing customers and the local businesses who have joined us for the ride."

Co-founders Scott Collins and Yianni Papoutsis grew the brand from a street van in 2009. It now has 11 sites overall, with a recently opened site in London King's Cross, although it is preparing to close its original site in Marylebone as the building is being demolished to make way for a hotel.
