Chef Matt Healy is to open a second Grön Kafé site in York, following the success of the Scandi-inspired restaurant in Leeds.
It will be the fourth site for the 2016 MasterChef: The Professionals runner-up, following his three Leeds businesses, Matt Healy x The Foundry, the Beehive gastropub and the original Grön Kafé.
The menu at Grön Kafé is largely vegetarian and vegan with dishes developed to have minimal environmental impact, including a range of brunch and dinner options such as nut butter toast, sweet potato and halloumi hash, and chickpea and avocado salad.
Healy told YorkMix: “There’s no denying that many people are actively cutting down on their meat consumption, and we want to prove that vegetarian and vegan dishes serve up just as much flavour.
“We’re incredibly excited to bring the Grön concept to York.”
At the time of filming MasterChef, Healy was regional development chef at Rational. He has also worked at El Gato Negro in Manchester and Terroirs in London.
