She will work closely with suppliers and host wine clubs for clients, among other responsibilities.
Marie Phalippou has been appointed to the newly-created role of head of wine at BM Caterers.
She will oversee the contract caterer’s wine programme, supporting initiatives related to wine education, sourcing and client engagement, as well as collaborating with the culinary team to develop wine pairings.
Phalippou will work closely with suppliers Ellis Wines and Tom Gilbey to manage BM’s preferred wine list while also organising a ‘seasonal wine club’ for clients with Gilbey and managing director Angus Brydon.
She will also organise an annual wine trip for those studying for the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).
Phalippou holds a WSET Level 3 herself, having also worked in restaurants across France, New Zealand and Australia.
Her new role will run alongside her deputy hospitality manager position at a central London law firm.
Phalippou said: “I am thrilled to be able to share my knowledge with the team, support in training and elevate our offer across the business. I am looking forward to creating some special events whilst further enhancing my knowledge in wine.”
Brydon added: “We are delighted to be able to offer Marie this position, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing the careers of our team members. Marie brings such great knowledge in this field and will support in educating our teams and creating amazing events alongside her current role.”
It comes after BM Caterers appointed Elisabeth Ortiz Kuefler as ESG project manager, another newly-created role for the foodservice company.
BM Caterers (formerly Bartlett Mitchell) was founded in 2000 by Wendy Bartlett and Ian Mitchell as an independent, boutique caterer.
It was acquired by parent company Westbury Street Holdings in 2020.
