Kenny Tutt, 2018 MasterChef winner and co-founder of Pitch restaurant and cookery school in Worthing, is launching two new projects on the Sussex coast this summer.
Tutt will be launching Bayside Social in a new luxury development on Worthing seafront, as well as opening his first Brighton venture, Ox Block, within the recently refurbished Shelter Hall.
Inspired by modern beach clubs on Miami’s South Beach, the 40-cover, glass-fronted Bayside Social building will offer beach views and a terrace. When it opens in July it will be open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch as well as takeaway, events and private dining.
Dishes will include south coast seafood fish fry with cuttlefish, cockles, and anchovies with roast garlic aioli; Golden Cross goats’ cheese croquettes with South Downs honey; and grilled Carver chicken thigh, white cabbage lime slaw and jalapeño green goddess sauce.
As part of Shelter Hall, Brighton’s first food hall, Ox Block will be a smoking robata grill kitchen offering bacon baps, steak sandwiches with 40-day aged sirloin and beer-braised onions, and deep-fried Oreos with salted dulce de leche ice cream. Ox Block will open for outdoor dining on 26 April and indoor dining on 17 May.
Tutt said: “My favourite thing about food and cooking is the way that it brings people together, so opening up two new spaces that allow people to do that in different ways is extremely exciting. The last year has been a challenge of course, but it’s also given me time to dedicate to these projects and really decide on next steps following on from the huge success of Pitch thanks to the support of our amazing customers and our team. I can’t wait to fling open the doors this summer, welcome customers back & show them what we’ve been up to. We all need it!”
