Webber was previously head chef at the hotel for seven years
Ian Webber has been appointed executive head chef of Gidleigh Park in Devon following the departure of Chris Eden last year.
It marks a homecoming of sorts for Webber, who was a head chef at the hotel between 2006 and 2013 under then executive chef Michael Caines.
The chef, who was named South West Chef of the Year in 2006, has been leading the kitchen team since mid-December.
He said: “It’s great to be back at Gidleigh Park and I am very proud to take up the position of executive head chef at this iconic English hotel with its long-standing history of excellence, following in the footsteps of some great names that I have long respected.
“I can’t wait to welcome back those who I have cooked for in the past, and to create memorable dishes for new guests alike.”
Simon Franks, regional general manager at Gidleigh Park, said: “We are thrilled to have welcomed Ian back – a great chef, and a natural leader, the team is already producing new and exciting dishes, which we can’t wait to share with our guests.”
Gidleigh Park was awarded a Michelin star in 2023, which it retained in 2024 in recognition of its “balanced, harmonious and rewarding” flavours.
