The Channel Island-based Liberation Group has re-opened the Chez Andre hotel on the island of Alderney under a new name, having spent a "significant investment" on improving the 20-bedroom property.
Now knowns as the Adventurer's Rest, the Liberation Group, the owner of a number of hospitality businesses in Guernsey, Jersey and Alderney, bought the hotel in autumn 2015, for approximately £450,000. It is the second hotel in the group's portfolio, joining the Old Court House Inn at St Aubin in Jersey, which the group acquired in 2014.
Fourth-generation hotelier and local businessman Martin Smith has taken on the tenancy of the hotel.
Located at Alderney's capital and only town St Anne, the hotel offers edgy, industrial interiors and boasts a 60-cover bar and restaurant, Chez Bar, an Orangery and two alfresco areas.
Alderney is the northernmost of the Channel Islands, and is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
Kenrick Brooks, operations director for Liberation Group, said: "The Adventurer's Rest is an important venue in Alderney and with Martin Smith we are working on bringing it back to life and into the 21st century, which will be good for residents and tourists alike. We look forward to working with Martin and are excited about the opportunity, experience and knowledge he will bring."
Smith added: "I am passionate about Alderney and in particular about creating an excellent product for islanders and visitors. Liberation Group is making a significant investment not only in the Adventurer's Rest, but also in the wider Alderney economy and I am looking forward to being a part of that."
