The 73-bedroom Dauncey's hotel in Weston-super-Mare has been sold to Grand UK Hotels, part of the UK Holiday Group, for an undisclosed sum.
Occupying six houses of a Grade II-listed crescent, the hotel has been sold by Richard and Louise Morris. The property, which was built around 1860 and has accommodation over five floors, overlooks Weston Bay, Madeira Cover and Knightstone Island.
Dauncey's becomes the 10th hotel in a portfolio owned by the UK Holiday Group, which is one of Britain's largest domestic travel companies with more than 100,000 holidaymakers a year. As well as Grand UK Hotels, the company also trades as Grand UK Holidays, Sunrise Holidays and Just for Groups.
UK Holiday Group managing director Paul Bennett said that the company was delighted with its purchase and was looking forward to catering for the many regular customers, as well as new customers, at Dauncey's.
The freehold sale of the property was handled by Christie + Co.
