Bright Hospitality Group has acquired the lease of the Chichester hotel in Wickford for an undisclosed sum.
The former farmhouse in Essex has 36 bedrooms, a bar and restaurant and three event spaces. The hotel takes its name from Sir John de Chichester, who was the original occupant of Chichester Hall, a 13th-century moated farmhouse which still stands.
Brothers Zishan and Imran Zaman, Bright Hospitality Group's directors, said: "The property is a great strategic fit to our expanding portfolio of regional hotels. The Chichester is an established business and we intend to build on that success, working hard with the passionate team we have on site and investing in some areas of the property. We are also considering branding options for the hotel operation."
Paul Barrasford, director of Colliers International's hotels agency team, which acted on behalf of the private vendors selling the property, said: "The Chichester's strong trading location supports a broad mix of revenues. It is a popular midweek base for corporate clientele."
The addition of the hotel takes its portfolio up to 12 properties.
