The Danish-inspired brand operates 17 cafés across the UK
London-based Danish coffee brand Hagen has launched its first overseas espresso bar in Amsterdam as it sets its eyes on “multiple international openings” in 2025.
Since launching in 2017, Hagen has grown to 17 cafés across London under founder Tim Schroeder, a former investment banker at Goldman Sachs.
The latest Hagen in Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen, Amsterdam, features a green marble counter with a Kees Van Der Westen manual coffee machine, which offers sustainable single origin coffee from around the world, including Eastern Nepal.
Schroeder said: “I founded Hagen to create a Danish coffee experience anchored in the premium end of the market. But in my mind it’s not enough to be premium – we have to give back to the communities we touch and do something that’s real. This somewhat uncommercial approach earned us customer loyalty and helped us to grow.
“We are looking forward to bringing this to Amsterdam – a city with a fantastic café culture, quality and craftsmanship – that loves bikes and windmills as much as we do in Copenhagen.”
