The Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow will be the latest events venue to be turned into a temporary hospital to support NHS capacity during the coronavirus outbreak.
Scotland’s First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced today the site would offer 300 additional beds which could be extended to more than 1,000, and could be operational within a fortnight.
London’s ExCeL was the first centre to be announced for conversion last week. It is currently being converted into the NHS Nightingale, which will be staffed by military medics and will be the largest such NHS facility in the country.
It was then announced later in the week that the Birmingham NEC, Cardiff’s Principality Stadium and Manchester Central would also become temporary hospitals.
