The brewer has been based on the famous Bermondsey Beer Mile since 2013.
London craft brewery Fourpure is to close its Bermondsey taproom and move production up to Yorkshire after 11 years.
The brand, which is part of the wider In Good Company Brewing portfolio, has been based in the railway arches of the Bermondsey Beer Mile since 2013.
It invested £2.5m in to its facility in 2018 and a further £2.5m to boost its kegging and canning line in 2021.
However, accounts for Fourpure Ltd on Companies House are eight months overdue and the business has been trading under a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) since 20 June.
Production of Fourpure’s beers will move to its sister Magic Rock brewery in Huddersfield but reports suggest the brand is looking for a new home in London.
Steve Cox, chief executive at In Good Company Brewing, wrote on LinkedIn: “After careful consideration, I want to share some important news with you. We have made the difficult decision to close our Bermondsey brewing facility.
“This decision was not made lightly, and it comes with a deep sense of gratitude for the incredible work that has been done there.
“To our team on the ground at Bermondsey, thank you. Your dedication, passion, and craftsmanship have been the heart and soul of our operations. The beers brewed within those walls have brought joy to so many, and none of it would have been possible without your unwavering commitment. We are incredibly proud of everything we’ve achieved together.”
Cox said production would be increased at the Huddersfield brewery following the closure.
He added: “Our aim is that transition will be seamless, and our focus remains on delivering the exceptional quality you have come to expect from our products.
“While this marks the end of an era, it also opens new possibilities for growth and collaboration.”
In Good Company Brewing is also a shareholder of the alcohol-free Big Drop Brewing Co, which is currently fundraising on Seedrs.
The number of UK breweries falling into insolvency tripled in the year to March 2023 as businesses struggled to balance rising costs.
Yorkshire-based North Brewing Co was sold out of administration in January while London’s Brew By Numbers was saved from collapse by Breal Capital last August.
