The auction, which is taking place next month, is believed to be one of the largest of its kind to be held in Europe
Over 6,000 pieces of furniture, artwork and accessories from the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva in Switzerland are set to be auctioned off ahead of a major refurbishment.
This is believed to be the largest auction of hotel items ever to be held in Europe.
Over the course of the four-day auction, everyone from design enthusiasts to hospitality operators will be welcome to acquire a piece of the historic hotel.
Furnishings from guest bedrooms will be available alongside memorabilia from the hotel’s restaurants, banqueting halls and commercial kitchens.
Further contents include terrace furniture, laundry and linen, generators and even pieces from the renowned Théâtre du Léman.
The 412-bedroom Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva, which dates back to 1885, closed at the end of 2024 to prepare for a “major transformation” starting in Q2 2025.
Simon Rose, auction director at Pro Auction, the company responsible for the sale, said: “It is a landmark event that will capture the attention of operators, collectors and fans from around the world, offering a unique opportunity to acquire a piece of the hotel’s history.”
The auction will be held at Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva from 17-20 February, starting at 10.00 CET each day.
Online bidding will also be available via a live webcast. Viewing is by arrangement with the auctioneers from 10 February. The catalogue can be viewed here.
