Pastry chef and Bake Off: The Professionals judge Cherish Finden is to launch her first standalone pâtisserie at the Pan Pacific London hotel on 16 June.
Shiok!, which is pronounced ‘shook’, will be located in Devonshire House, the 146-year-old building adjacent to the hotel.
The 25-cover pâtisserie will open seven days a week and serve breakfast and pastries throughout the day to eat-in or takeaway.
Finden joined the Pan Pacific as executive pastry chef ahead of its opening in 2021 and is also responsible for the hotel’s entire pastry collection.
Her menu at Shiok! will include a Chocolate Teapot, inspired by Finden’s memories or drinking tea with her grandfather; the Handbag, which will include flavours of lemon and raspberry compote and draws on the chef’s memories of her mother buying her mini handbags; while the Kopi Tarik will be flavoured with coffee and come with an edible spoon and cup.
Shiok! will also serve a variety of chocolate bon bons with flavours such as matcha and yuzu; cookies in a tin; and Finden’s take on Singaporean pineapple tart.
Drinks will include bubble tea, Champagnes, wines and a selection of juices for breakfast.
Finden said: “In Singapore the word Shiok! conveys a feeling of pure pleasure and happiness and this is what I want to capture. The pâtisserie is going to be somewhere you will want to bring your loved ones, any time throughout the day for an out-of-this-world pastry. I’m so looking forward to Londoners experiencing what we have in store.”
