Chef Paul Welburn to leave 215

Chef Paul Welburn has announced he will be moving on from 215 restaurant in Summertown, Oxford, at the end of the year.

Posting on Instagram he said: "So the time has come for a change, after the tough period this industry has and is still facing I have decided the time is right to move on from 215 restaurant at the end of this year…

"Now I'm excited to begin the search for the next project, where and what that is… well let's see, but one I hope to pick up from where we left off."

Welburn joined what was formerly Oxford Kitchen in 2017 as executive chef and it was awarded a Michelin star in 2018, which he described as "the pinnacle of my career so far". Following the pandemic last year, Welburn relaunched the venue as the simpler neighbourhood restaurant 215, saying at the time that "everyone will need to adapt" on reopening.

The venue is owned by Samantha Wilson and Stephen Quinn's Cucina Restaurants.
