Charlotte Horler appointed deputy general manager of the Grand Hotel Birmingham

Acorn Award winner and 2016 Acorn Scholar Charlotte Horler has joined the Grand Hotel Birmingham as deputy general manager.

Horler has joined the Grand after three years as deputy general manager at New Hall Hotel & Spa, where she was responsible for hotel operations with a particular focus on front of house and food and beverage, managing 78 employees across teams.

Her career in hospitality began at the age of 15 when she joined Walton Hall & Hotel in Warwickshire. Following a stint in the kitchen, she moved front of house, progressing to food and beverage supervisor, front office receptionist and front of house manager, before taking up a role at Billesley Manor in Statford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, as operations manager. She then moved to London for a role as front of house manager at Red Carnation's Montague on the Gardens hotel in Bloomsbury.

The Grade II*-listed, 185-bedroom Grand Hotel Birmingham reopened its doors after 19 years in 2021 following a £50m restoration and refurbishment.

Horler said: "I'm truly honoured to join the Grand Hotel Birmingham. To be working at such an iconic hotel with a talented team during an important year is a career highlight. Our aim is to be Birmingham's favourite hotel and I'm very excited to lead the team operationally to cement this whilst ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional experiences and create special memories for our guests."

Peter Kienast, general manager at the Grand Hotel Birmingham, said: "We're thrilled to welcome Charlotte to the Grand Hotel Birmingham team. She brings a wealth of experience to the role as well as tangible passion for customer service. I'm proud to call her my deputy general manager as we head into a really important year for the hotel, and the city, as we prepare to welcome the Commonwealth Games."
