Redevelopment of Cardiff's old Brains Brewery could include hotel

The redevelopment of the former Brains Brewery site in Cardiff could include a 228-bed hotel, according to documents filed with the council.

The seven-storey hotel would be located at the south-eastern corner of the site and have a bar/breakfast bar on the ground floor.

The venue would be part of the wider Central Quay scheme, which will also include offices, 1,000 luxury riverfront apartments, a university campus, bars and restaurants.

Brains moved its production to the new Dragon Brewery in Cardiff Bay in 2019.

The developer behind the hotel would be Rightacres, which is also the developer for the city's Parkgate hotel, a collaboration between the Welsh Rugby Union and the Celtic Collection, which is due to open in October following the redevelopment of the old post office and county court buildings on Westgate Street.
