The famous three-Michelin-starred Spanish restaurant has partnered with Scotch whisky brand the Macallan for its UK debut.
The brothers behind the three-Michelin-starred El Celler de Can Roca restaurant in Spain are to open their first site in the UK this year.
Joan, Jordi and Josep Roca are partnering with Scotch whisky brand the Macallan to launch a “permanent dining experience” at the Macallan Estate in Speyside.
TimeSpirit will be the trio’s first site outside of Spain and serve a nine-course tasting menu described as “a culinary exploration of the Macallan” to mark the whisky brand’s 200th anniversary.
The 30-cover dining room will be designed by David Thulstrup, the architect behind the design of Noma in Copenhagen.
The Roca brothers said in a statement: “The many trips we have made to Scotland and the inspiration we have found in its old cookery books have afforded us the chance to pay homage to Scottish cuisine.
“We have been all over the country, drinking in its spirit, devoting time to it and we would now like to share our cooking through the Macallan.”
Further details of the menu have yet to be announced.
Jaume Ferràs, creative director the Macallan, said: “El Celler de Can Roca’s philosophy mirrors that of the Macallan, with a deep inspiration from nature, a commitment to community and a relentless pursuit of innovation and this will be showcased for everyone to experience within the new menu – where it will take influence from the past, imagine the future and make a difference in the present, and really showcase the collaboration between the two brands in a playful and exciting way.”
TimeSpirit will take bookings from 1 August before opening to diners in late summer.
El Celler de Can Roca has held three Michelin stars since 2009.
