Boxpark gets green light for £3.5m Liverpool site

Shipping container leisure concept Boxpark has secured planning permission to open a £3.5m site in Liverpool later this year.

It comes after Boxpark first announced news of the opening in September 2022.

Boxpark has signed a 15-year lease with Cains Brewery Village, which launched in November 2015. The site will be located in the city's Baltic Triangle.

Upon completion, the 21,000 sq ft venue will be transformed into a food hall and events space that holds 400 internal covers and 200 external covers.

There will also be 10 kitchen units, three internal bars and a 5,430 sq ft outdoor garden for al fresco dining.

Boxpark Liverpool will be the first of its kind outside of London for the brand, which has sites in Wembley, Shoreditch and Croydon.

Simon Champion, chief executive of Boxpark, said: "We are delighted to receive the news today that Boxpark Liverpool has planning approval as our team has put a lot of work into bringing the Canning Hall at Cains Brewery back to life."

Harj Dusanj, managing director of Cains Brewery Village, added: "Boxpark shares our passion and enthusiasm to showcase the best independent street-food businesses with world class entertainment in the heart of the Baltic Triangle."
