The University of London's Birkbeck College is set to give caterers the third degree ahead of awarding a five-year, £6.6m contract for catering services on its premises.
The university is inviting tenders and envisages five candidates to go forward and sweat over the textbooks in a bid to win the deal.
Split into lots, the contract involves catering at the college's main building in Malet Street, as well as at satellite buildings including Gordon Square, Russell Square, and the Clore Management Centre in Torrington Square.
Currently, the incumbent on the contract is Sodexo.
The deadline for tenders or requests to participate is 2 March this year, with invitations to tender or to participate scheduled to be sent out on 10 March.
