Adam Dyke has been named general manager of the Grand, York.
He takes over from Simon Mahon, who announced his departure from the Catey-winning hotel in September after five years at the property.
Dyke joins the 207-room Grand, York from Luxury Family Hotels, where he was group operations director.
He brings with him two decades of industry experience, which spans roles including operations director at Artfarm and leadership positions at Chewton Glen in Hampshire, the Devonshire Arms on the Bolton Abbey Estate, Wynyard Hall Hotel in the Tees Valley and Yorebridge House in Bainbridge.
Dyke said: “The Grand, York has a reputation for excellence in service and its dedication to creating memorable guest experiences. I’m thrilled to join the award-winning team.
“Starting this new position at the Grand feels like coming home. Having lived in Yorkshire since I was 13, I haven’t worked in the county for some years now, and I can’t wait to meet the team, get back to my roots and the unique and fantastic Yorkshire hospitality scene.”
Andrew Kendrick, managing director of hotels at Splendid Hospitality Group, added: “Adam will join the hotel’s operational leadership team, as well as play a key role in the Hotel Division’s Operational Leadership, focussing on developing and driving division-wide initiatives whilst ensuring day to day excellence at the hotel. I am confident the hotel will go from strength to strength with Adam on board.”
The Splendid Hospitality Group property also features a spa and two restaurants – the three-AA-rosette Legacy and the Rise – as well as a cookery school.
Splendid Hospitality Group consists of 24 hotels and 39 fast food restaurants and is owned and directed by Shiraz and Nadeem Boghani.
