Cinnamon Kitchen to launch first site outside of London

The Cinnamon Collection, the four-strong restaurant group owned by Boparan Restaurant Holdings, is to open its first site outside of London in October.

Cinnamon Kitchen Oxford, in the Westgate Centre, will be a relaxed all-day dining concept with 110 covers. There will be a large bar on the ground floor, an open-plan kitchen, a chef's table and a semi-private ‘pagoda' room. A rooftop terrace, with views of the Oxford spires, will seat an additional 40 diners.

The restaurant will open for brunch, lunch and dinner, serving modern Indian cuisine with British influences. Dishes such as chukka-spiced, 35-day dry-aged Hereford rump steak and chargrilled sea bass in a banana leaf parcel will feature alongside a tasting menu of founder Vivek Singh's signature dishes, as well as a selection of feasting dishes designed for sharing. There will also be a focus on the bar operation, with spice-infused craft cocktails at the forefront.

Singh said: "We are delighted to be opening our first Cinnamon Kitchen in Oxford, the first restaurant for us outside London. The Westgate Centre is a breathtaking development and Oxford is a beautiful city, rich in culture. I look forward to sharing our unique Cinnamon ethos with residents and visitors alike."

Emma Mees, senior portfolio manager at the Westgate Oxford Alliance, said: "We are thrilled that Cinnamon Kitchen has chosen Westgate Oxford as a key location to expand its presence in the UK. We look forward to opening our doors on 24 October and bringing 2017's most eagerly anticipated retail and leisure destination to Oxford."

Singh first opened the Cinnamon Club in 2001 with business partner Iqbal Wahhab. Boparan Restaurant Holdings, owned by millionaire entrepreneur Ranjit Singh Boparan, acquired the Cinnamon Collection in 2016 with a view to rolling out Cinnamon-branded restaurants throughout the UK and overseas.

The group already runs the Cinnamon Club, Cinnamon Kitchen, Cinnamon Soho and Cinnamon Bazaar, all in London.
