Wyndham Worldwide scales back jobs and imposes charges

 

Hilton expands in Poland, Italy and Russia
Hilton Hotels has signed a trio of long-term agreements to add new properties in Poland, Italy and Russia. The deals, which include two new Hilton Garden Inn hotels in Treviso and Warsaw, as well as a Doubletree by Hilton in Perm, Russia, highlight the company’s continued growth of its Family of Hotels in key strategic markets across Europe. The 171-room Hilton Garden Inn in Treviso, Italy will be operated under a long term management agreement with Tecnoecology, and will open in early 2010. The 266-room Hilton Garden Inn Warsaw Mokotow, Poland will operate under a franchise agreement with Hotel System Sobieskiego and will open in the fourth quarter of 2009. The Doubletree by Hilton Perm, Russia is anticipated to open towards the end of 2010 under a franchise agreement with BC Development LLC.

 

Coca opens its latest Mango Tree in China
Global restaurant group, Coca continues to roll out its Thai fine-dining concept, Mango Tree with the opening of its seventh outlet in China. The latest restaurant will be situated in The Shoppes, Macau’s first luxury retail mall located within the Four Seasons Hotel Macau, Cotai Strip. The 120 seat restaurant will also have two private rooms accommodating 6-14 diners. Mango Tree Macao serves traditional and contemporary Thai dishes, including signature curries and sauces. Since the first restaurant opened in Bangkok over 15 years ago, Mango Tree has expanded across the globe with venues in Tokyo, Dubai, Busan, Kuching and London.

 

Switzerland converts nuclear bunker into budget hotel
A town in Switzerland is planning to convert the local underground nuclear bunker into a budget hotel. A group of 15 guests inaugurated the potential hotel in Sevelen in the north-eastern region of St Gallen last Thursday in a trial run. The idea needs the final go ahead from the town's authorities. The price per person per night will be between £5 and £8. The only drawback is the views are not very good. The building is below ground and is entirely windowless.
