Warewashing specialist Winterhalter has launched a website with the aim of educating bartenders, sommeliers and kitchen porters on how to improve glass washing.
Entitled ‘The home of glass washing’, the new website includes free downloadable guides covering subjects such as cleaning glass, glass corrosion and tips on how to counter issues such as stains, streaks and lipstick.
The website also aims to offer solutions to issues around glass washing, such as what types of glasswashers are required depending on the types of glasses used, the chemicals and the water treatment.
In addition, it looks at the specific requirements that differ between restaurants and bars. For example, cocktail bars often have to wash different glass types, as well as removing sugar, egg white, botanicals and lipstick, while in restaurants the challenges are more focused on the high-quality and delicacy of wine glasses and the desire to avoid time-consuming glass polishing.
Paul Crowley, marketing development manager at Winterhalter, said: “We’ve tried to make 'The home of glasswashing’ web pages a first-stop resource for anyone who is having issues with glass washing.”
Crowley said he believes the new website “is clear, simple and easy to navigate”. He added while he cannot name businesses that Winterhalter supplies, he said restaurants and pub chains have accessed the website and downloaded some of the content.
