Harry Kane’s local pub in London Walthamstow has signed an open letter calling for the statue of the footballer to be gifted to his hometown.
The Bell Walthamstow, which is operated by Stonegate Group, has partnered with sports pub finder app We Love Sport to urge Waltham Forest Council to display the newly unveiled statue of the former Tottenham Spurs player and captain of the English national football team outside his local.
The playful letter read: “We think it’s an outrage the public has been deprived of such a fitting tribute to England’s greatest ever goal scorer for so long. But, we think we have a solution.
“Picture this: our pub, The Bell in Harry’s hometown of Walthamstow, adorned with the majestic presence of the man himself, immortalised in bronze.
“What could be better? Sipping a cold beer in the presence of footballing royalty. Let’s bring Harry home – well, to our pub at least”.
We Love Sport added: “Perhaps let’s have a chat over a pint to see how we can make this a reality”.
It comes after photos of Harry Kane’s statue were released by Waltham Forest Council earlier this week ahead of it going on public display in the borough later this year.
