This week sees the start of the 2013 Tour De France. Made up of 21 stages, the tour spans the entire country, and today we will take part in our very own tour de France as we look at the wide variety of France's wine regions.
Arguably one of the greatest wine professionals of his generation, Gerard Basset is the Sommelier‘s Sommelier; he is the reigning World Champion Sommelier and the only person ever to simultaneously hold the Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and MBA Wine honours.
Decanter Magazine‘s 2013 Man of the Year, joining a remarkable list of the global wine elite.
With the Tour De France covering a total distance of 3,479 km, it is the perfect time to highlight Franceâs wine regions. As the riders set off, we too can tour this beautiful country, and see what wines it has to offer along the way. From the early stages in the Languedoc-Roussillon to the Loire Valley, France has a lot of choice with varying tastes and styles. Basset is on hand to offer us his expert knowledge on all things wine, giving us the scoop on which regions to look out for and the newest popular wines to tickle our taste buds.
