The National Fish and Chip Awards, celebrating 30 years this year, has announced the UK's top mobile fish and chip businesses.
To get to this stage the businesses have been through an initial judging on a range of categories including sustainable sourcing policies, staff training processes and marketing activities.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 25 January 2018.
Marcus Coleman, chief executive at Seafish, said: âWeâre seeing a new generation of mobile fish and chip units pop-up around the country with innovative operators seizing new trends and opportunities, such as the provision of catering facilities to the wedding market.
âMobile catering is far from new, but improved food offerings have brought a new lease of life to the sector â" something the fish and chip industry is capitalising on.
âRunning a successful mobile business is no easy feat, and requires a great deal of commitment and passion in order to succeed, but our finalists hit the mark perfectly. All three businesses showcase the innovation of the mobile catering sector while still retaining the traditions of our quintessentially British meal, fish and chips.â
Award sponsor Colin Heathfield, head of foodservice and international sales at Pukka Pies, said: âMobile fish and chip shops are classically British and this yearâs finalists reflect the creativity and innovation of this fine tradition.
âAt Pukka we pride ourselves on offering good quality, hearty food to our hungry customers, and the businesses shortlisted really share those values. We wish them all our warmest congratulations and all the best for the final.â
