The 90-bedroom Ufford Park Hotel Golf & Spa in Woodbridge, Suffolk, has been sold to Lion Quay Resorts for an undisclosed sum.
Set within 119-ares of parkland, the hotel has been owned by Colin and Shirley Aldous since 1991. They opened a 25-bedroom hotel and health club on the site in 1992 and have since expanded it into the property it is today, encompassing the Park bar and restaurant, spa with nine treatment rooms and swimming pool.
The couple stepped down from running the business in 2015, when their daughter Tarnia Robertson took over as managing director.
Colin Aldous said: “We are so proud of what we built during our 30 years at Ufford Park – a resort with an enviable reputation. Both Shirley and I are now looking to enjoy our retirement and made the decision to pass the business on to a new owner who can continue building on our successes.”
Lion Quay Resorts will now rename the business as Ufford Park Resort.
Dr Ashok Bansal of Lion Quay Resorts said that Ufford Park represented “a perfect fit" for the group’s portfolio, which includes Lion Quays Resort in Oswestry, Shropshire, and Langstone Quays Resort on Hayling Island, near Portsmouth.
“We are excited to build on the exceptional job completed by the Aldous family and plan to invest heavily in developing the product and services across our new resort,” he said.
The off-market sale of Ufford Park was handed by joint agents Savills and HMH Golf & Leisure.
