Train drivers at 12 operating companies are to strike again in September as part of a dispute over pay, union Aslef has said.
Staff will walk out on 15 September after failing to reach an agreement with bosses over a pay offer to keep up with rising inflation.
It is the second train strike announced for this month, with staff at nine operating companies set to hold a 24-hour strike from midday on 26 September.
Mike Whelan, general secretary at Aslef, said he regretted that passengers would be inconvenienced.
Aslef members will walk out at 12 companies: Avanti West Coast; Chiltern Railways; CrossCountry; Greater Anglia; Great Western Railway; Hull Trains; LNER; London Overground; Northern Trains; Southeastern; TransPennine Express; and West Midlands Train.
This summer has been hit by a wave of transport strikes which have left many hospitality businesses facing mass cancellations with customers unable to travel.
Some operators have had to reduce trading hours or close completely to ensure staff could safely get home.
