Hotelier Tim Rumney has been appointed full-time chief executive of BWH Hotel Group GB, incorporating Best Western Great Britain and WorldHotels Great Britain, having served as interim chief executive since August.
Rumney has been chairman of the BWH Hotel Group board of directors for four years and a director since 2009 and therefore “represented a natural and unanimous choice for the board” following the resignation of Rob Paterson earlier this year.
Rumney has operated three Best Western-branded hotels over more than 20 years including the Castle Green hotel in Kendal and the Best Western Plus Pinewood hotel in Wilmslow. He also previously held senior positions with Forte Hotels.
He said: “I am thrilled to take on the position of CEO full time at BWH Hotel Group GB, in a time of great challenge and great opportunity for the hospitality industry.
“Working in hospitality and running a hospitality business is a difficult and challenging, but supremely rewarding career choice. As CEO I will take all the lessons I have learned in my career forward to fight our corner, and ensure our collective voice is heard.”
“We have a fantastic team in BWH Hotel Group GB and our purchasing organisation Beacon and I look forward to working with our hotel members and other stakeholders in driving and developing the business as we recover from the impact of the pandemic.”
BWH Group GB is retained-profit membership organisation of more than 290 independent hotels, with 18 hotel brands.
