Artisan plant-based burger company, the Vurger Co, has smashed its £180,000 targeting by raising £300,000 in a crowdfunding campaign to fund its first restaurant site.
Co-founders Neil Potts and Rachel Hugh set out to raise £180,000 in exchange for 23.08% equity. The campaign closed on 6 July having raised £300,000, allowing them to raise the equity offer to 33.33%.
The founders set up the Vurger Co to offer fast, natural plant-based food, using vegetables, seeds, nuts and legumes to create a plant-based burger, and have been running pop-ups in London markets and festivals.
Their first restaurant is due to open in early 2018 in London.
Potts and Hugh said: âWe are extremely excited that we hit the £300k mark in just 77 hours, we just love that everyone has got behind our mission, believed in us and our team and understood how much of an impact our concept can have on the future of food! We cannot wait to start working on our permanent home!â
