The Ivy Collection to open in Cheltenham

Richard Caring's Troia UK Restaurants has submitted an application to Cheltenham Borough Council to open an Ivy restaurant in the Rotunda on Montpellier Walk.

The planning application, which was submitted on 12 May 2017, is pending a decision.

The Grade I listed Rotunda building is currently occupied by Lloyds TSB. The bank branch is expected to close in July.

A statement prepared by Pegasus Group on behalf of Troia Restaurants proposes that the lobby area in the 830sq m building is refurbished with painted hardwood recessed low level panelling and doors with leaded diamond glazing above.

A new raised floor area will be constructed in the centre of the restaurant, which will house a new bar installed with a silk face and onyx top. An outside seating area will also be installed.

The Ivy operates the original restaurant on West Street in London’s Covent Garden as a separate business, alongside the Ivy Grills and Brasseries in Covent Garden, Chelsea Garden, Kensington, Soho, Cobham, Marlow Garden and Bristol; and four Ivy cafes in Marylebone, Wimbledon, Richmond and St John’s Wood.

Last week, the Ivy Collection submitted plans to Exeter City Council to transform a Waterstones into a restaurant.

It is also expected to open four brasseries in City Garden, Tower Bridge, Bath and Edinburgh.
