The Hoxton is to introduce a dedicated workspace brand at two of its newest hotels in London and Chicago.
To be known as Working From_, the concept will be an extension of the unofficial workspaces that have sprung up across the lobbies of the Hoxton's first six hotels, where a growing band of freelance workers and locals have established themselves with their laptops on an ad hoc basis.
Ennismore, the owner of the Hoxton said that it had responded to modern, flexible ways of working by offering "home-like spaces to work and meet, stress-free policies and the hospitality know-how of the Hoxton".
While working in a Hoxton lobby comes at no cost, Working From_ will operate a fee structure. In Southwark, London, the fee will range from a £30 day pass to a monthly fee of £200 for people who are happy to desk surf, £500 for a permanent desk or £700 for a desk in a private studio. The hotel lobbies will remain free to anybody that wishes to use them.
Designed by Ennismore Design Studio, Working From_ will launch at the 192-bedroom Hoxton, Southwark a month after the hotel opens in September. It will feature 744 desks, five meeting rooms and a wellness studio offering yoga, mindfulness and meditation. Additional facilities will include showers, lockers, bike storage and a members' café offering healthy desk-side lunch deliveries.
Meanwhile, the 182-bedroom Hoxton, Chicago, which opened last month, will also launch its shared workspace, featuring 294 desks and two meeting rooms, in October.
By signing up to the Working From_ brand, members will be entitled to discounts of the Hoxton's bedrooms and restaurants, free guest passes, access to a help-yourself snacks pantry and stationary cupboard, and unlimited meeting room access and printing.
Ennismore's portfolio of businesses comprises nine Hoxton hotels (including two yet to open in Southwark and Los Angeles); Gleneagles in Auchterarder, Perthshire; a new budget hotel brand called NoCo; Eynsham Hall, a 135-bedroom country house hotel in Oxfordshire that is soon to be reimagined and a collection of standalone restaurants.
