The Grand York has appointed Norman McKenzie as the hotel's new executive chef following the departure of Craig Atchinson.
Norman has been running his own consultancy for the past year and a half, following roles as group executive chef for the Malhotra Group, head chef of the Feversham Arms hotel in Helmsley, Yorkshire, executive head chef at Oulton Hall in Leeds and executive head chef for Handpicked Hotels.
McKenzie will oversee all food and beverage operations in the hotel, including casual dining restaurant the Rise, fine dining at Hudsons and catering for conferences and events.
General manager Philip Bolson said; "We are delighted to have Norman onboard to lead our F&B offering. He brings with him invaluable experience, expertise and passion."
Former executive chef Atchinson left the five-AA-star, 207-bedroom hotel last month to join Grantley Hall near Ripon as head chef of its Fletchers restaurant.
The Grand opened as a hotel in 2010 and added 100 new rooms in March 2018 as part of its £15m expansion and refurbishment scheme, doubling the capacity for accommodation to 207 rooms.
