The Caterer’s 2023 People Summit event will be centred around people and purpose. Speakers and presenters will share best practice on what makes a Best Place to Work in Hospitality and look at how businesses can ensure their philosophy matches the environment their employees are looking for.
The sessions will cover subjects such as personalisation, independent thinking, flexibility and equity, and we will speak to operators to find out how they have changed their processes to ensure their teams remain loyal and engaged.
Presenters include Chris Mitchell and Robbie Laidlaw of the Genuine Dining Group, who are preparing for their Spirit of Hospitality race across the Atlantic. They will share their insights on what they have learned during their training period and how signing up to the race provided motivation during lockdown and a focus on their mental health and wellbeing.
Liam Hatcher, head of people and development at CH&Co, will share his career pathway and reveal how his progression through the ranks at CH&Co has developed with the benefit of networking and awards.
A panel session on changing perceptions, behaviour, management and culture will feature Liz Flynn, people director at Cubitt House, and Jane Sunley, founder of Purple Cubed, will discuss how businesses are changing their mindsets to ensure their teams have the right skills along with creating a better working environment. Ed Cotton, partner at TLT will discuss the likely impact of the forthcoming statutory code of practice on sexual harassment and prevention of third party harassment, and will join the conversation on promoting an inclusive, tolerant culture.
After lunch there will be a further panel session on attraction and retention with Emma Alexander, personnel and development manager at Tylney Hall, and Andoni Sanchez, director of human resources at the Hari, will talk about how to source and interview the right candidate, as well as other initiatives that have delivered results for our speakers to create an ongoing pool of talent.
Finally, Mark McCulloch will give an update on the industry-wide Hospitality Rising campaign in the afternoon before the reveal of The Caterer’s Best Places to Work in Hospitality top 30 in association with Umbrella Training and Purple Cubed.
