Tender opportunity: St Albans Museums

St Albans Museums is an award-winning local authority-funded museum service which manages and operates two museums, a number of heritage sites and Ancient Scheduled Monuments and cares for the city’s nationally significant collections.

Amongst its portfolio, the museum service’s key sites include the city centre venue of St Albans Museum + Gallery, which opened in 2018, and Verulamium Museum, a specialist Roman museum located in a much-loved local park.

The museums receive core funding from St Albans City and District Council. In April 2023, the Museums Service was awarded just over £1m in funding from Arts Council England as part of its National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) programme. The NPO status has seen the museums embark on an ambitious programme of events and activities which will be delivered over the course of the next three years.

The museums and the council wish to select a suitable caterer for St Albans Museums.

The caterer will be able to facilitate both a quality café offer along with a range of out of hours event catering. Since opening St Albans Museum + Gallery event catering has ranged from Champagne receptions with canapés to full sit-down civic dinners and wedding ceremonies and receptions, Bat and Bah Mitzvahs, award ceremonies, fashion shows and corporate conferences.

We are keen to engage with a caterer who shares our passion for providing excellence consistently; with good quality, wholesome, locally sourced food and drink that is both delicious and good value for money.

The café at St Albans Museum + Gallery is situated within our impressive original galleried courtroom as well as through the provision of covered outside seating for which we have a pavement licence. Our event spaces include the Assembly Room and Courtroom at St Albans Museum + Gallery, which is a venue licensed to deliver marriages and civil partnerships through Herts County Council Registry Services.
